GCE

IndiGo has significantly strengthened its aircraft financing capabilities with the opening of GCE’s new office in GIFT City, Gandhinagar. This expansion comes after GCE successfully financed over 30 aircraft, including the Airbus A320neo family, by March 2025. The move to a modern and larger office is a key milestone in IndiGo’s strategy to bolster its fleet expansion and financial operations, positioning GCE as a critical player in the airline’s ongoing growth. The new office will further enhance IndiGo’s ability to finance its aircraft internally, reducing dependency on external sources and accelerating its ambitious expansion plans.

In a strategic move to scale up its aircraft financing capabilities, InterGlobe Aviation Financial Services IFSC Private Limited (GCE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of India’s leading airline IndiGo, has unveiled its brand-new, state-of-the-art office in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), Gandhinagar. This marks a pivotal chapter in IndiGo’s long-term growth strategy and positions GCE at the center of India’s financial innovation ecosystem.

The new GCE office, significantly larger and more technologically equipped than its predecessor, is a testament to the airline group’s accelerating aircraft acquisition plans and financial sophistication. With this relocation, GCE aims to bolster its support for IndiGo’s aggressive fleet expansion and operational scaling, ultimately enhancing customer experience across domestic and international routes.

Grand Inauguration Ceremony with Industry Stakeholders

Today’s inauguration was attended by IndiGo’s senior leadership, including the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief of Fleet Acquisition and Financing. The team initiated the day with a traditional puja ceremony, marking the start of an auspicious journey. Representatives from several international leasing firms—key partners in IndiGo’s aircraft strategy—were also present at the ceremony, highlighting GCE’s collaborative and forward-looking approach.

Ua ʻōlelo ʻo Pieter Elbers, Luna Nui, IndiGo, “We are delighted to move to our new office at GIFT City, Gandhinagar. In line with the government’s vision to create a world-class, self-reliant ecosystem for aircraft leasing and financing through Gift City, this expansion supports our growth strategy, enabling us to enhance services and explore new opportunities. We look forward to collaborating with GIFT City stakeholders to drive our ambitions and cater to new India’s evolving travel aspirations.”

A Rapidly Growing Financial Arm with a Strategic Role

GCE was granted its captive finance company license by the International Financial Services Centre’s Authority (IFSCA) on June 26, 2024. Operations commenced swiftly on July 15, 2024. Just weeks later, on August 22, 2024, GCE facilitated the delivery of its first aircraft to IndiGo—an Airbus A320neo—laying the groundwork for a robust pipeline of future transactions.

By the end of the financial year on March 31, 2025, GCE had already financed more than 30 aircraft from the Airbus A320neo family. Additionally, it acquired multiple ATR aircraft, further diversifying the fleet composition and aligning with IndiGo’s operational goals in tier-2 and regional markets.

GIFT City as a Catalyst for Aviation Financing

The decision to base GCE in GIFT City underscores IndiGo’s confidence in the hub’s rapidly evolving financial ecosystem. As India’s first operational smart city and international financial services center, GIFT City offers a regulatory environment tailored for global finance, making it an ideal location for airline financing activities.

With GIFT City emerging as a prominent player on the world’s financial map, IndiGo’s move is expected to catalyze broader industry interest in establishing aviation financing arms in India. GCE’s presence further strengthens the growing perception of India as a capable and attractive hub for aircraft leasing and financial services.

GCE’s Vision for the Future

Looking ahead, GCE is poised to play a transformative role in supporting IndiGo’s aircraft acquisitions. The company is expected to finance the majority of IndiGo’s future aircraft, reducing external dependency and streamlining financial operations. With the airline aiming to reach a fleet size of 2,000 aircraft over the coming years, GCE’s contribution is set to be both substantial and strategic.

By internalizing aircraft financing and leveraging its GIFT City base, IndiGo enhances not only its cost efficiency but also its ability to structure innovative leasing models. These moves align with broader global trends where airlines are increasingly establishing in-house financial arms to gain better control over asset management and long-term capital deployment.

IndiGo has enhanced its aircraft financing capabilities with the opening of GCE’s new office in GIFT City, Gandhinagar, after successfully financing over 30 aircraft by March 2025. This strategic move supports IndiGo’s ongoing fleet expansion and long-term growth goals.

Panina

The opening of the new GCE office in GIFT City is more than just a change in address—it is a bold step into the future for IndiGo. As India’s skies become busier and its travelers more numerous, the infrastructure behind the scenes must also evolve. GCE’s growth, location, and function represent a modern and mature response to the demands of a rapidly expanding aviation market. With this milestone, IndiGo signals its intent to not only lead the skies but also anchor itself firmly in the heart of India’s financial landscape.
